Shawn kept telling me she had one of the best birthdays ever yesterday, and I think it had a lot to do with the fact that she got well wishes via Facebook. How the times have changed, eh?
But I was pretty pleased with the presents I gave her as well. Thanks to the economy her "to-be read" shelf is actually empty. I was thinking about snapping a photo of it, because it's such a rare (and forelorn) sight. Anyway, she was complaining about having to re-read books she bought decades ago just to have something to read. So I bought her a $50 gift certificate to Uncle Hugo's/Uncle Edgars. Plus, when I stopped in to purchase it, Don, the owner, informed me that thy were out of some of my alter ego's out-of-print books... could I bring some in for trade credit? Heck ya! I just doubled Shawn's buying power.
The plan is that in a couple of hours I'm going to pick Shawn up early from work and we're going book shopping!! I'm telling you... it's the gift that keeps giving.
Plus, I bought her some "bling" (earrings) and a gift certificate for a couples hot rock massage. Nice, eh?
